Dark Times RPG Site-Wide Plot
It is the end of Harry’s 6th year and Lord Voldemort is on the loose. Death Eaters have broken out of Azkaban prison, the Ministry of Magic is encompassing Hogwarts and the Order of the Phoenix is on the rise, recruiting members for its cause at a rapid pace. Students at Hogwarts are slowly getting used to having so many adults surrounding them, although they think it’s a bit strange that half of the staff has up and left. There is a new Headmistress at the school who is trying her hardest to keep things in line as well as some of the younger students who were given charge to keep their common rooms in line and to try to gather some house unity. The current acting heads of houses are as follows:
Gryffindor: Professor McGonagall
Hufflepuff: Professor Sprout
Ravenclaw: Professor Flitwick
Slytherin: Professor Slughorn
After the death of Albus Dumbledore, every teacher has decided to stay to keep Hogwarts as safe as possible.
The current whereabouts of the Death Eaters are hidden everywhere...
These are dark times, indeed. Dolores Umbridge was welcomed back to Hogwarts with open arms due to the fact that many teachers feel the school is unsafe. She is the current standing Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher and has fully recovered from her stay at St. Mungos. There are no educational decrees to date and she is to strictly follow the curriculum set forth by the Headmistress. However, with the more attacks by Death Eaters and the recent murder of the Ravenclaw student, Dolores feels her need to take action slowly stirring inside of her. She is in close contact with the ministry, as well as Rita Skeeter who has grown to become a close friend of Dolores over the years. Rita Skeeter now works for the Ministry of Magic, reporting that things are all well at Hogwarts, just like they asked her to. She now lives comfortably as an unregistered animagus in downtown London. We have not heard from Professor Lockhart, although we did hear that he is still signing autographs for fans that he still doesn’t remember, and is doing quite well in his straight jacket at St. Mungos. The Minister himself has been very busy, vexing himself with the responsibility and task of locating Harry Potter, which to date has been very unsuccessful. He has called in aide to Percy Weasley who has been attempting to make contact with his younger brother Ronald, sister Ginny, and his parents who had ‘so carelessly’ tossed aside years ago for their affiliation and loyalty to Albus Dumbledore. Molly and Arthur Weasley are unhappy and are in a very confused state, as they miss their son terribly, but due to their allegiance to Harry and the Order, they cannot divulge any information on his whereabouts.
The world outside of Hogwarts is very, very busy. The time has come to where muggle and wizard alike are aware that a strong presence has come across their worlds. Wizards are killing each other in the London Streets and with the rising activity of Death Eater action, it is almost impossible for muggle governments to ignore. The following list of places and landmarks have been demolished or affected by Death Eater activity:
The bridge in the 6th book, Ollivanders Wand Shop and disappearance, Honeydukes chocolates, and Hogsmeade on the whole is a shady place to be. Many pieces of art by Van Gough, Picasso and Dali have been destroyed.
More and more people go missing every day, and the deaths of these people have been blamed on the unforgivable curses. Muggles have been affected more by this crisis, causing their prisons to be overloaded with criminals, most who do not recall committing the crimes that they have been sentenced for. The current face for the Death Eaters is Bellatrix LeStrange, who although insane, is solely responsible for making announcements and as a front for the majority of Death Eater activity.
The Order has had its hands busy, repairing the damage that the Death Eaters have caused across England. They fear that the panic will reach other countries soon, and some places have re-created instances like the Salem Witch Trials to ‘protect’ their nations and citizens. Some of these countries are Australia, Romania, Afghanistan, Russia and China. The United States has decided to stay neutral, as usual, and furthermore, they refuse to get involved with any matter concerning the United Kingdom. The current leader for the Order is Remus Lupin, who took over after Dumbledore’s death. He is focused solely now on taking down Voldemort after the murder of Dumbledore and his close friend Sirus Black.
Many people wonder where the ‘Boy who lived’ is, and at this point, we can safely tell you that he is out of Hogwarts and Ministry’s reach. After the death of Albus Dumbledore and his godfather Sirius Black, Harry has gone on his wild search for the remaining Horcruxes. With him went Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger. After leaving, Ginerva took over as Gryffindor Quidditch Captain and Seeker and has slowly made her way into a popular position at Hogwarts Castle. The rest of Gryffindor students have remained, including Seamus Finnigan (much to the dismay of his mother), Neville Longbottom (who has developed his love for plants even more), Dean Thomas, Lavender Brown and Parvati Patil (who are more like one person than two recently and can be found swearing loudly that they want to be switched to Hufflepuff) and other students who felt that their presence at Hogwarts was something to be given in the memory of their beloved Headmaster.
The Slytheirn house has been upturned as their mascot, Draco Malfoy and Ex-Head of House, Severus Snape have been blamed for the death of Albus Dumbledore. It is said that they are in hiding, but no one knows where. Pansy Parkinson has been painfully quiet and lurks around her common room, wringing her hands and has been completely inconsolable although her housemates have done their best at digging at her for information. Crabbe and Goyle are completely lost and have attached themselves to Pansy because she is equally as bossy as Draco was. They do not cause trouble, nor are they really thugs now, they’re just kind of... well, lost, as they usually were, but sad. They don’t even smile when beating up first years. How tragic indeed. Due to the disappearance of Draco, many of the lesser known Slytherins have come out of the woodwork, including Millicent Bulstrode, Daphne Greengrass, Adrian Pucey (who has taken it upon himself to reinstate the Slytherin Quidditch team), and others. With the addition of Professor Slughorn as their Head of House, it seems like the house is regaining it's normal arrogance.
Ravenclaw has not changed much. They are still obsessed with books and Quidditch, though recently, the murder of Ryan Taylor shook them very hard. Their Head of House remained to look after them and has been seen giving out Chocolate Frogs to the students in the hallways. Michael Corner has tried out for the Quidditch team again, and much to Roger Davies’s dismay, he made the team and has been an utter nuisance ever since. Terry Boot is still found lurking in dark corners, reading books and eyeing up the rest of the student population with a look of suspicion in his eyes. Cho is a blubbering mess of tears and anguish and has been known to try to make friends with anything that moves. She spends a lot of time in the second floor girl’s bathroom with Moaning Myrtle, crying. All of their housemates stayed as well.
Hufflepuff has taken a hands on approach to the whole situation, reaching out to the other houses. Hannah Abbott has returned despite the murder of her mother and has a full stock of Calming Draught potions just in case she has a panic attack and still has not learned how to apparate. Susan Bones has returned as well, as studious and ponderous as ever. They do not care about Quidditch and are more concerned with the inner workings of such publications as Witch Weekly and the Quibbler and have been noted to give a safe haven to students of other houses that do not feel welcome where they are. Having the kitchens next to their common room has been most beneficial although some of the first years have reported to being a bit chubby, and others have been noted to kicking house elves (alas, SPEW has taken actions against said students and they have been hazed in the hallways ever since).
The following organizations are still present and functioning within Hogwarts:
SPEW
Dumbledore’s Army
Slug Club
Gobstones Club
Quidditch
